An article supporting the need to improve student literacy. Student literacy is absolutely essential to child development. In my time as a teacher I work as a social studies teacher to help my students with their informational reading and writing. I believe their success as citizens is dependent upon their ability to critically think independently - the foundation of this is literacy.
