A examination of the Lebron James situation:

This NBA off-season will show the true colors of the up and coming stars of the NBA. Dirk in '06 took the loss and let it define his past performance and used this as motivation to change his game - Dirk's '11 title is directly due to his performance in his first finals series. DRose and the Bull's loss to the Heat exposed flaws in his game - how will he work and change his game? Durant and Westbrook's lose to the Mavs exposed the tiny rifts and the need to better define their roles - plus illustrating what needs to improve for them to take the next step - how will they work and change their games? Finally, Lebron - will he use this series to finally take the leap people see he is possible to take? Lebron is the most talented player in the NBA - possibly the most talented player ever - but the greatest player ever is Michael Jordan because while he was supremely talented he combined this with a competitive fire that was unmatched. Dirk was the best player in the '11 Finals - he combined his talent with the drive to defeat the 'talented' Heat.
The best performing player of a series is determined when talent is combined with effort, drive, and competitive fire.
